Course Description: Basic Seafarer Training
This comprehensive program provides essential knowledge and practical English language skills for the role of an Ordinary Seaman/Deck Rating. The curriculum is designed to prepare new crew members for safe and effective vessel operations, with all instruction conducted in maritime English.
Key Learning Modules:
Crew Induction & Duties: Learn standard procedures and English terminology for joining a vessel and understanding your responsibilities as a new crew member.
Vessel Layout & Systems: Study the different parts of a ship and its fundamental systems (both visible and internal) in English.
Mooring & Anchor Operations: Master the English commands and procedures for safe mooring and anchoring operations.
Cargo Operations: Understand the devices and standard procedures for cargo operations on a merchant vessel.
Deck Maintenance: Learn about the tools, types of work, and procedures (including safety aspects) for maintaining the vessel's operational condition.
Watchkeeping Duties: Train in the procedures for standing a navigational watch at sea and a port watch, using appropriate English communication.
Emergency Procedures & Security: Prepare for various onboard emergency scenarios. Learn the correct English terminology for response measures to save lives, protect property, and prevent environmental damage.
Outcome: Upon completion, trainees will have gained the necessary maritime knowledge and English communication skills to perform the duties of a trainee or Watchkeeping Sailor confidently.
